Title: Software Developer
Start Date: November 2008
Meet Ryan Tilk. In his 6 years of working at Point2, Ryan has worked on many projects, the most recent being work on the Energy Team for our parent company Yardi.
From Lord of the Rings to Minecraft, woodworking and making sushi, Ryan’s interests outside of work are many and diverse. With his mom having a degree in Computer Science from 1972, it’s clear that technical aptitude runs in the family!
We asked Ryan to answer a few questions about himself. Here’s what he had to say:
What is your favorite book of all time and why?
Lord of the Rings is my favorite book that I read when I was quite young. Imagine my surprise when I thought Lord of the Flies was the sequel….
If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?
Lately I have been playing Minecraft with my two boys (5 and 3) whenever I get a spare minute. I have never been a big gamer however I really do enjoy it with my kids.
What kinds of food do you like?
One of my worst kept secrets is my addiction to Sushi. I have even started to make it at home on a regular basis. My favorite so far is making salmon sushi using an ice cube tray! Recipe is here03.
If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or historical, who would it be?
I have never thought of this before but if I had to choose I would probably pick Mark Twain. I most likely wouldn’t even eat, just keep writing down the things he says. It would be extremely entertaining.
What are some things on your bucket list?
I would love to one day build my own house. I am just worried about how it would turn out. Plus it would probably kill me.
What was your last Do It Yourself project?
My last successful DIY that I am really proud of is an oak computer desk that I designed and worked on with my dad.
What online sites do you visit?
I am an avid Redditor that only ever lurks. No you can’t have my username.
What is something about you that few people know?
My mother has her degree in Computer Science in 1972 and I still have some of the punch cards to prove it.
