This past weekend we launched a new series at Granger Community Church: The
Power of RE. I know it’s not a word, but it gives a second chance to dozens
of other words. Words like…
* REview
* REimagine
* REnew
* Recharge
* REboot
* REfuel
It’s important to pause occasionally to REconsider where we are, and based
on that, where we’re headed. When our schedule does the driving, or we
passively surrender to “life as we know it”, we can sometimes be surprised
by where we end up. So, I’m REconsidering, REflecting, and REviewing.
Dr. Bob Laurent and his son, Chris launched our series, challenging us
to REnew our purpose and responsibility in parenting. They gave me a lot to
think about.
Our daughter, Liv, just graduated from art school with a fine arts degree
in painting. She’s 22 and engaged to be married in late 2016. It’s a new
day for my wife, Laura, and me.
What I do, what I say, how I behave as a parent has been changing slowly
for the past two decades. Although I love her fiancé, Jacob, and want that
bond to be tighter than anything Liv and I ever experienced (how is that
possible?), she’ll always be my baby girl. And yet, she’s not; she’s an
amazing young woman.
What follows are my ramblings around the three (in bold) practical
challenges Dr, Bob and Chris shared so engagingly:
* Start your children at the Mission level (that is… don’t wait ‘til
they’re “mature” to help them understand what it is to serve others)
o First, a REflection. When Liv was young, Laura and I… Continue reading

This summer season brings a new pace, a unique schedule. And we pack it full as though we have months of this warmer weather (which just isn’t the case in this midwest, lake-effect, 19-months of wintery wonder region) to go, do and experience everything we’ve waited out the snow to do. It goes way too fast, so we tend to move at a similar pace, trying fiercely to not miss a moment.
And yet, in this pace, there really is some space. We schedule long weekends, week-long vacations, and evenings on the water. We somehow manage to slow down inside our summer schedule.
Perhaps it’s an ideal time to…
Beginning this weekend at Granger Community Church, we’ll explore the Power of RE. It’s time. Let’s make time.
Let’s leverage the space of this season to take a next step toward Christ. Let’s do it together. Pick a time, pick a campus.

Beginning this weekend at Granger Community Church we begin Summer School,
a three-week series intended to help us learn. Get smarter. Get schooled.
Truth is, we need to wise-up.
One of the wisest, smartest, most successful men of all time packaged an
ancient collection of Proverbs in the Old Testament of the Bible. The
dictionary describes a proverb as…
…a short popular saying, usually of unknown and ancient origin that
expresses effectively some commonplace truth or useful thought.
Consider the commonplace – or commonsense – truth of these biblical
proverbs:
* Do not accuse anyone for no reason — when they have done you… Continue reading

Dear Church Family,
If you were able to join us for services this past weekend or you saw my emails from last week, you know that Mark Beeson has been recovering from a mild stroke in Italy, where he and Sheila were leading a New Testament Church tour with several from Granger Community Church (GCC).
Here’s the great news: Mark was released from the hospital today! In fact, his echocardiogram was clear today; his heart is strong. Mark and Sheila will be returning home this Wednesday! Travel arrangements are under way now.
He will need to engage rehab to correct the double vision he is experiencing as he continues to gain full strength and get fully acclimated. Mark is confident, as we all are, that our great Physician will bring complete recovery.
Together, we’re thanking God for His hand on Mark over the past week. We’re grateful that the tour group of GCC friends arrived home safely yesterday! We’re celebrating God’s response to our prayers for Mark and Sheila!
I knew you’d want to know as soon as we knew – spread the word! God is sovereign and the Beesons are coming home!
