Say Hello to Walk Score on Point2 Homes

HelloToWalkScore_01-12_blogHere’s a fun update for both agents and consumers: Point2 Homes now includes Walk Score information for Canada. You can visit any Canadian property listing on Point2 Homes and check it out right now!

Walk Score

If you haven’t heard much about it, Walk Score is a service that rates the walkability of a particular property or neighborhood.  Walk Score computes the walkability of an address by calculating hundreds of walking routes, factoring in the amenities and businesses in the area and analyzing pedestrian friendliness.

Walk Score Rating

On Point2 Homes, users can click on the Walk Score number to learn more about the area and why it’s rated the way it is. Walk Score ratings add value by providing information about properties that consumers are looking for:

  • Can daily errands be accomplished on foot?
  • Are there good transit options in the area?
  • Is it bikeable?
  • What is the commute time to key locations by foot, transit, bike and car?
  • What parks, grocery stores, restaurants etc. are nearby?

In addition to Walk Score information, we have also added a Nearby Amenities map and a Travel Time widget.

Nearby Amenities

The Nearby Amenities tab on listing detail pages will show you the closest restaurants, coffee houses, bars, groceries, parks, schools, shopping, and entertainment in the area.

Consumer Portals

Walk Score, travel time and nearby amenity information has also been added to our consumer portals for real estate organizations. Take a look at these great new features in action on SFRealtors.com. It really is fun to see the different information available for listings in a big city like San Francisco.

Here are some ways agents can use this newly available data to help buyers and sellers:

  • Does your seller’s property have a great Walk Score? Feature it prominently in marketing materials and listing descriptions.
  • Help buyers compare similar properties by looking at Walk Score ratings and the travel times to their places of business.
  • Working with investors? Walk Score ratings can be a factor that helps determine how easy a home is to rent or flip.

We are very excited about this update. Take it for a spin and let us know what you think below!
